Jacquard Lanterns to Celebrate the Lantern Festival

Lanterns are a quintessential feature of Chinese culture. They are made in the likeness of the objects from nature that have the most significance to people, such as flowers, fruit, animals, fish and even some mythological creatures. They also have religious applications and can be made to resemble celestial bodies during rituals.

The Lantern Festival is held on the 15th day of the first lunar month. On this night, families place a lantern on their windowsill and light it to welcome good fortune into their homes. It's a time for celebration and feasting, when young people enjoy dressing up in colorful clothes and visiting friends or relatives.
